About Walden & Associates

A Brief History

Walden & Associates was founded by Dave Walden in his garage in 1975.  His philosophy was to provide his clients with the best solutions to their civil engineering and land surveying projects.  He maintained a close relationship with his clients and the agencies he dealt with, always proactive in finding and resolving issues with site designs and agency requirements.  He became a well-respected engineer within the community and among his colleagues.  He instilled this same philosophy in the next generation of principals at Walden & Associates as he passed the reigns to Dave Bacon, Jeff Walden and Dave Couch in 2001.

Dave Bacon began his career at Walden & Associates as a draftsman while still in college and has worked at Walden & Associates since 1981.  He has led the company and oversaw all engineering endeavors.  He has a passion for complete, accurate and clear designs.  

Jeff Walden led the surveying department and oversaw all aspects of mapping, ALTA surveys and construction staking within the company.  He has been with the company since 1983 and has inherited his father's (Dave Walden) insistence on accuracy and completeness in all of the surveying services we provide.  ​

Dave Couch, joined Walden & Associates in 1986, was the Chief Financial Officer with Walden & Associates from 2001 until retirement in 2015.  Besides his role as CFO, he maintained the in-house computer systems and was responsible for implementing and training in new application software, contract & insurance agreements, and heading the human resources department.  Dave Bacon and Jeff Walden have also retired but are still providing occasional consulting services.

Today's Leaders

In 2017, Marcos Padilla became a principal with the firm and serves as Chief Operations Officer.  Marcos is our design engineer lead and has been with Walden & Associates since 2004. He has the broad engineering experience required for the production of construction documents, taking projects from a preliminary design concept through final design including construction documents and all required design information. Leadership and creating synergy in the office are just a couple of his many strengths, as well as fostering client relationships.

DeAnne Frink, niece of Dave Walden and daughter of Dave Couch, became a principal in 2023, and serves as the Chief Financial Officer.  DeAnne has been with Walden & Associates since 2010 working in finance, contracts, insurance, and human resources. In addition to her role as CFO and HR Manager, she helps maintain the in-house computer systems, reviews client agreements and negotiates insurance agreements.  DeAnne enjoys working to keep the family atmosphere at Walden, continuing the 3rd generation of her family’s business.
